Join the Brave Souls on the Chesapeake for the Winter Season
Jet racing will be occurring all winter long
on the Chesapeake Bay as the Annapolis fleets gear up for this year's Frostbite
Series. Races will be run every other Saturday from 11/22 through 3/27
with a nice perpetual trophy to be awarded at the end. An elaborate scoring
system is used that accounts for competitors during race committee duty (expected
at least once for each competitor). Racing is typically done in Annapolis
Harbor just off SSA. First start is 1:00 pm and boats usually sail until
around 3:30 pm. After racing, Jetters retire to the club for hot drinks
and food. Travelers are welcome and encouraged. Drysuits, while
not required, are expected once the season gets going (i.e. the weather starts
freezing our butts off). So far there are 9 boats signed up with other
folks wanting to crew. We will have our fleet boat 'Betty' available for
use if anyone wants to just show up.
