2009 Jet-14 Nationals To Be Held at Mayfield Yacht Club (NY)

Fellow Jetters,

We have finalized the venue and dates for the 2009 Jet 14 Nationals. They will be held on the Great Sacandaga Lake in the Adirondacks (Mayfield, NY) on the week of August 11-15th. We have lots of time to make arrangements, but I wanted to get the word out.

Here is a link to our club website: www.mayfieldyachtclub.com  and a link to the chamber of commerce website: http://www.visitsacandaga.com/

Here are some statistics for those who have not been here before:

Surface Area: 42 Square miles
Shoreline:125 miles
Maximum Width: 5 miles

Length: 29 miles
Water Capacity: 37.75 billion cubic feet
Average Depth: 40'

The water is clean and clear. The club owns an island off the shore that may be a good stopping point during the week. If there is interest and wind, we can organize an evening sail on some of the cruising boats on Wed night, etc...

We will be forming a lodging committee. This is in the rustic Adirondacks and there are plenty of lake cottages for rent, a state park/campground, and a few hotels within approx. 10 miles.  We are also getting some member homes/boats made available for guests. If you have always had a dream of renting a cottage on a mountain lake, reserve early, as they do fill up quickly. (The closest towns are Mayfield, Northampton, Northville, and Broadalbin, in that order.) We will generate a recommended list over the next several weeks.

This is also the week after NASCAR races at Watkins Glen and right in the middle of horse racing season at Saratoga for those of you interested in single or multiple horsepower events. We are approx 50 miles from Cooperstown/Baseball Hall of Fame.

We look fwd to seeing you next year.

Regards,

Dave Japikse
